RESEARCH AND PUBLICATION ETHICS PRINCIPLES

In scientific articles sent to the Journal of Psycho-Social Research in Sports and Exercise (PRISE), the guidelines related to Higher Education Institutions Scientific Research and Publication Ethics, the recommendations of the ICMJE (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors) and the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) “Editors and Authors International Standards” should be taken into account.

Ethical Responsibility: Journal of Psycho-Social Research in Sport and Exercise (PRISE) accepts the principle of “Compliance with the Principles of the Declaration of Helsinki” (http://www.wma.net/en/30publications/10policies/b3/ index.html) in all studies that include the “Human” element. In the presence of such studies, the authors must state in the “materials and methods” section of the article that they carried out the study in accordance with these principles, and that they received “informed consent” from the ethics committees of their institutions and the people who participated in the study.

If the “Animal” item is used in the study, the authors state that they protect animal rights in their studies and get approval from the ethics committees of their institutions in line with the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (www.nap. edu/catalog/5140.html) principles and it must be specified in the “materials and methods” section of the article. Regardless of the identity of the patient in case reports, “informed consent” should be obtained from the patients.

Plagiarism

Plagiarism can occur in many ways: it can be presented as if someone else’s article is the author’s own, a substantial portion of another article can be copied or paraphrased (without attribution), or the results of research done by others can be presented in the article as if they belonged to the research in question. All forms of plagiarism are unethical and unacceptable. Authors should submit original work and sources should be cited or referred appropriately.

All submitted works are checked for plagiarism using iThenticate and then their suitability for publication within the journal is evaluated. Works with a high plagiarism rate, insufficient originality, and serious scientific or technical errors will be rejected.

Duplicate submission

Writers should not submit the same work or a similar work based on the same database, written in the same or different language, to more than one journal at a time.

Fake data

Scientific misconduct in research and non-research publications includes, but not limited to, false data, data tampering, misleading alteration of images, deliberate non-disclosure of conflicts of interest, and plagiarism. Failure to publish the results of clinical trials and other human studies is considered by some to be a form of scientific misconduct.

The journal acts in accordance with the COPE Guidelines when there are allegations of scientific misconduct or when concerns are raised about the integrity or conduct of the work described in a submitted or published article.

Manipulation of quotes

A work should contain only relevant citations. It is strongly discouraged to include citations that are not related to the work. Similarly, it is unethical to refer to oneself irrelevantly in order to increase the number of citations.

All authors must have contributed directly to the article, either academically or scientifically WRITING.

Authorship is based on the following 4 criteria:

  1. Make a major contribution to the realization of the study design or the acquisition, analysis or interpretation of study data AND
  2. Drafting the work or revising it for important intellectual content;
  3. To give final approval of the version to be published; AND
  4. Agree to be responsible for all aspects of the work to properly investigate and resolve questions of accuracy or completeness with respect to any part of the work.

Anyone who is designated as an author must meet these four criteria for authorship, and anyone who meets these four criteria must be recognized as an author. Contributions from people who do not meet all four criteria should be included.

It is the authors’ collective responsibility to determine that all persons designated as authors meet all four criteria; not the journal to which the work was submitted.

It is the responsibility of the authors to prepare a work that meets the scientific criteria.

Author change

The names and locations of the authors specified in the copyright transfer form will be evaluated after the registration process begins.

After this stage;

– Except for the authors who signed the copyright transfer form, no other author’s name can be added to the article.

– The order of the author names cannot be changed.

– Author name cannot be deleted.

Acknowledgement/dedication

Contributors who do not meet all 4 criteria above should not be listed as authors, but their contributions should be indicated.

If any, conflict of interest, financial support, grant and all other editorial (statistical analysis, language editing) and/or technical support should be presented at the end of the text.

Conflict of Interest

According to WAME, “A Conflict of Interest (COI) exists when there is a distinction between a person’s private interests (competing interests) and their responsibilities to scientific and publishing activities that may make the observer believe that that person’s behavior or judgment is driven by competing interests.”

Potential conflicts of interest should be reported to the journal at the earliest stage.
